As the Toronto Film Festival continues to celebrate the best in television, the latest series from Mike Flanagan, Sean Ryan and more acclaimed writers have been booked for the event’s Primetime program for September.
In all, 10 small-screen projects were unveiled for big-screen performances at the 51st TIFF, with performances headlined by Linda Cardellini, Jon Hamm, Carrie-Anne Moss, Gary Oldman, and Hudson Williams, among others. The sidebar will open with Netflix less, Written by creator Jesse McKeon, the six-part supernatural thriller centers on a Newfoundland coastal town besieged by a sea creature, and stars Mackenzie Davis, Charlie Heaton, and Josh Hartnett.
Primetime will close with showrunner Mike Flanagan curry, Prime Video’s re-imagining of the classic Stephen King novel about a high school girl with telekinetic powers, with Summer H. Howell in the lead role. Sidebar usually features an episode or two and has informal conversations with actors and creatives in Toronto.
There are also universal brackets for American hostage The psychological thriller series, created by Sean Ryan, Eileen Myers, and Adam Arkin, is adapted from the podcast of the same name into a live-action television series, and Friday the 13th Prequel Crystal Lake For Peacock, about a single mother (Cardellini) who is unable to overcome grief for her sick young son after he drowned in the city lake almost a year ago.
In addition, TIFF will host world premieres of films 2.6 seconds: Death in the outbackAustralian true crime documentary. Alice, The story of the world’s first female director starring Berenice Bejo (Artist), from directors Virginie Ferrer and Guillaume Lonergan for HBO Max and France Televisions; David Norath Blind Spot Berlin stir; and Yaga, Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams’ series from showrunner Kat Sandler that reimagines the legend of Baba Yaga for Crave.
Toronto is also bringing the international premiere of the final season of the spy thriller to Apple TV Slow horses and the North American arc of the Brazilian series OOxygen masks will (will not) fall off automatically, By Marcelo Gomez and Carol Minim.
TIFF announced earlier Coda Director Sian Hedder will open the 51st edition with Being a human. The Toronto Film Festival is scheduled to run from September 10 to 20.
