Tom Holland answers a question about Zendaya’s character, the goddess Athena, being romantically involved with Matt Damon’s character, Odysseus, during an interview with Wired. “Did Athena love Odysseus romantically?” Holland read the question before answering: “No…because she is married to me.”

Provoking laughter from Anne Hathaway and Matt Damon, the lead actor nodded and said, “Yes. Good answer.”When Holland asked why Athena chooses Odysseus, Matt Damon replied: “That’s difficult in the context of our movie without giving things away. Because does Athena choose Odysseus or does Odysseus choose Athena?” “Spoiler alert. That’s all we can say,” he added. Furthermore, when asked what Athena teaches Odysseus’ son, Telemachus, Damon quips: “True love.”

Holland agreed with a smile on his face.In “The Odyssey”, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war, guides Odysseus home to Ithaca during the long battle by manipulating the gods and helping him escape from Calypso.
