The problem reached a Hyderabad-based policeman who was suspended after he allowed his granddaughter, a minor, to drive a car on a busy road in the city on Sunday. After being alerted to the incident, immediate action was taken against the accused, including filing criminal charges against him.

The incident sparked public anger not only because of the apparent negligence in performing the policeman’s duties, but also because of his refusal to admit his mistake.
