Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday vowed to prevent demographic change in the country, while visiting the Lankamurra site along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.

“…Be it Tripura, West Bengal, or Bihar…we will not allow demographic change through the gaps in the borders of the country. This is our firm belief and resolve,” Shah, who interacted with the Border Security Force personnel, said. He added that the “Smart Border” pilot project will be implemented in seven to eight places in the country.
Shah, who arrived in Tripura on Thursday to assess security and border management along the India-Bangladesh border, said: “There are separate challenges on separate borders. In some cases, the problem is drugs, in other cases, it is human trafficking, arms trafficking and counterfeit currency smuggling. The Border Security Forces should do their best to meet these challenges. The smart border concept is in the finalization stage.”
In May, Shah announced the launch of a technology-based “smart border” project using drones, radars, smart cameras, and other advanced surveillance systems to make the 6,000-kilometre-long border with Pakistan and Bangladesh “impenetrable.”
Shah separately laid the foundation stone for the Pushpavant Palace Hotel in Agartala on Friday. Chief Minister Manik Saha described it as an important milestone in Tripura’s journey towards becoming a leading heritage tourism destination. He wrote on Saha said that the hotel will showcase the culture, history and scenic beauty of Tripura.
