Anna Kendrick is stepping in to direct the film Evelyn Hugo’s Seven Husbands.
Netflix announced Monday that the star will direct the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reed’s 2017 best-selling novel. Evelyn Hugo’s Seven Husbands.

Always a tabloid subject, Evelyn shares for the first time details of her seven marriages, revealing the secrets she’s kept, who she is behind the scenes and why she chose Monique for her latest confession.
Although the film’s casting has not yet been publicly announced, fans were quick to name some Hollywood stars as their choices to portray the book’s characters, most notably Jessica Chastain, Ana de Armas, and Eiza Gonzalez.
During an interview with E! news In 2023, Chastain said there was “zero possibility” that she would play Celia St. James in the film adaptation, but she would love to see how “amazing” the book’s fanbase would be.
Meanwhile, both de Armas and Gonzalez have expressed their willingness to star in the film for the titular role. “It would be an honor,” Gonzalez said. “I love the book. I love everyone [Reid’s] Things. I’m a big fan.”
