After much speculation — along with a suspicious countdown on the singer’s website and billboards in several cities around the world — Disney and Pixar have confirmed that Swift will release a new original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the film. The song is her first release since she broke the record The life of a showgirlis scheduled to be released on Friday (June 5) ahead of the film’s June 19 release, the film studio announced on Monday.

Swift reunites with her frequent collaborator and prolific producer Jack Antonoff for the single, “inspired by cowgirl Jessie’s ongoing journey in… Toy Story 5 Which started back in toy story 2“, according to a statement. The song was described as a return to Swift’s country roots.

“It’s unbelievable how important it was for Taylor to write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the direct way she understood what the character was going through is undeniable,” the film’s director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton said in a statement. “The song is so inextricably linked to ‘Toy Story.'” So much so that upon first listen, I immediately felt like she always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. Swift, of course, isn’t the first major musician to record a new song for a band toy story Soundtrack. Sarah McLachlan sang the heartbreaking ‘When You Loved Me’ toy story 2, While Chris Stapleton recorded “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” on Toy Story 4.

Swift and Toy Story fans alike will be able to purchase physical copies. Pre-sales began today on Swfit’s website for three exclusive CD editions containing the single, an acoustic version of the song, and a special piano version.

Toy Story 5 It hits theaters June 19.
