No survivors in Mahauli building collapse

In a separate incident, officials said that rescue teams on Sunday found “no signs of survivors or living victims” under the rubble of the five-storey Mehrauli building, which collapsed the day before, despite the use of advanced mechanical equipment and police dogs.

Six people were killed and seven others were injured in the accident.

Speaking to the media, Sunil Kumar Singh, Commander of the National Disaster Response Force, said work was underway to remove the debris. He said that no trace of a living person was found among the rubble, neither through police dogs nor through other devices.

He added: “Rubble removal work is underway. The NDRF team is on the ground and on standby. If necessary, they will continue their work. Sniffer dogs are being used to locate survivors trapped inside. They track scents and provide indicators that can be interpreted by dog handlers. However, in our search using dogs, no survivor was pointed out. Therefore, using all our equipment, be it mechanical resources or dogs, we did not find any trace of a living victim.”

The building that collapsed is located in Galle No. 5, Al Marj Al Gharbi, Saeed Al Azayeb, near Al Saket Metro Station.

According to officials, information regarding the building collapse was first received at around 7:35 pm by Mehrauli Police Station staff during a routine patrol in Sidulagab village. Personnel immediately rushed to the scene and called for support, following which the first PCR call was recorded at 7:38 pm.
