Residents of Delhi may experience another round of light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, in various parts of the national capital on Sunday, after a spell of rain brought down temperatures in the national capital region the previous day.

according to The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Delhi will witness generally cloudy skies with light to light rain along with thunderstorms on Sunday.
Forecasts also indicated that wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in the evening.
The same forecast has also been issued for other parts of the National Capital Region, including… Gurugram and Faridabad in Haryana, as well as Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Rain lowers the temperature
On Saturday, the national capital witnessed a further drop in minimum temperatures, with air quality improving to satisfactory levels, amid strong winds and light to moderate rain in several parts of the city.
Safdarjung, the city’s weather representative, recorded a minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal and 0.7 degrees lower than the previous day.
The minimum temperature in Safdarjung was 25.3 degrees Celsius on Friday and 28.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The maximum temperature reached 37.2 degrees Celsius, 3.2 degrees below normal and 0.4 degrees higher than on Friday.
Other meteorological stations also recorded a similar drop in minimum temperatures on Saturday.
This decline came at several weather stations in Delhi Rain was recorded between 2.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, according to IMD. Safdarjung recorded 0.9 mm of rain, Palam recorded negligible amount, Lodhi Road recorded 3.8 mm of rain, Ayanagar Ridge recorded 0.4 mm and 0.2 mm of rain, respectively, and Mayur Vihar recorded 4 mm of rain.
Cleanest May in 5 years
According to data from the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), May 2026 was also Delhi’s cleanest May in five years, since 2021. This data takes into account pollution levels up to May 29.
As of May 29, 2026, Delhi has observed three satisfactory weather days, 20 fair weather days and six adverse weather days. Delhi’s average air quality index for the month was 161, compared to 144 in 2021, the data shows.
As of Saturday, Delhi also recorded four satisfactory weather days in May 2026, with Saturday recording the lowest AQI level for the month of May since May 2023, when the AQI index was 76 on May 2, 2023. The AQI index on Saturday was 85.
