Emilia Clarke may be the Mother of Dragons on one of TV’s biggest series – “Game of Thrones” – but even that hasn’t stopped her from some big ticket flops over the years. Following her role in the epic fantasy saga, the actress has seen some successes and failures in both film and television formats.
However, her role in some major franchises, from “Star Wars” to Marvel, has left a bad taste. In an interview with Variety, the actress, currently riding the success of her spy thriller “Ponies,” spoke about the mixed and often negative reception to several major projects she’s been a part of, including Marvel’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” “Terminator Genisys” and “Secret Invasion.” While all three productions arrived with great expectations, they ultimately failed to gain critical acclaim and fans.Looking at the graph of her career, she addressed the response to Secret Invasion and defended the series, saying: “I don’t think anyone liked that show, guys. I’m sorry!”She went on to add, “Star Wars?” They didn’t like that. “finisher”? She admitted that this should never have happened. However, she admitted, “But these are the jobs I said yes to, you know what I mean?”Clarke played Sarah Connor in 2015’s Terminator Genisys, a film that received a lukewarm response from critics despite its ambitious attempt to revive the popular sci-fi franchise.
She also played G’iah in the MCU show, and her character became one of the most powerful heroes, using the combined abilities of many Marvel heroes and the blood-spilling villains in “Avengers: Endgame.” However, there is no new update about her role in any of the upcoming MCU movies or series.
She also joined the Star Wars universe as Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which performed poorly at the box office. Speaking about the character, she joked: “The Millennium Falcon has sailed. But there are a lot of fans who have personally told me [laughs] They would like to see her again. So we’ll see.”When asked if the receptions for her projects have been disappointing, the actress said, “I’ve gotten into franchises that already exist, so when it doesn’t work out, it’s not personal.”
