Ranveer Singh's 'Don 3' row: Ram Gopal Varma questions FWICE action, says 'it's a kangaroo court'

The ongoing developments surrounding Ranveer Singh and ‘Don 3’ continue to spark discussion in the film industry. What initially appeared to be a representation-related issue has now evolved into a larger controversy. Director Ram Gopal Varma has now shared his views on the issue. The director has publicly extended his support to Ranveer Singh and strongly criticized the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over its recent move against the actor.

Ram Gopal Varma reacts to FWICE decision

Ram Gopal Varma took to X and posted a lengthy note. The director questioned FWICE’s authority and expressed his disagreement with its decision to issue a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. RGV also suggested that such actions may not have long-term significance. He further said that the organization was trying to maintain its influence during the changing industry dynamics.“FWICE is neither a court of statutory justice nor a government-authorised regulatory body, and is at best a moot court, which by definition pretends to deliver justice, but in reality ignores established legal rules, due process and impartiality.

This is because the verdict is often pre-determined by a group of people with a specific agenda who come together privately including actors who are very intimidated by @RanveerOfficial’s huge success in Dhurandhar,” RGV wrote.

Ram Gopal Varma talks about Ranveer Singh’s situation

The director also shared his opinion regarding Ranveer Singh’s standing within the industry. According to Varma, the issue should remain between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar, and should not become a wider debate in the industry. He also stated that the actor still has strong market value and support within the industry.

“Here we come to the main point that everyone including the disputed company, and even FWICE, knows in their hearts, which is that if @RanveerOfficial nods yes, there will be a kilometer long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with checks ready,” he wrote.

RGV highlights the role of stars in the industry

Continuing his remarks, Ram Gopal Varma also discussed the role of actors in sustaining the film industry and creating opportunities. “It’s stars like @RanveerOfficial who sell tickets in theaters, not FWICE. It’s stars like @RanveerOfficial who create jobs for these thousands of FWICE workers, not FWICE. Just because stars like @RanveerOfficial exist, the industry exists, so does FWICE.”

So in short, here’s my unsolicited advice to everyone involved, let’s not stick our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between two parties
