Katy Perry will soon receive $3 million to pay her legal fees. The star was embroiled in a legal case after Carl Westcott sold his mansion to the famous “Roar” singer, but later tried to cancel the sale.

This led to a legal battle that has been ongoing since 2020. In a new ruling, it was confirmed that Wescott has been ordered to pay the singer’s legal fees.

Carl Wescott has been ordered to pay Katy Perry all of the legal fees she spent fighting the multi-year legal battle over the Montecito mansion he sold to her, People reported. The ruling was handed down on May 28 in Los Angeles, with the judge stating that the singer was entitled to the money.

This update comes after Wescott lost in November 2025, when a judge held that the sale of the property was valid and final. Later, the Texas resident also paid $1.8 million USD to Perry’s team.

Katy Perry and her former partner Orlando Bloom purchased the Monetcito estate from Wescott in 2020 for US$15 million. A few days after the deal was completed, he tried to back out and indicated that he had a mental disability and wanted to cancel the sale.

Wycott was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease in 2015.After a years-long legal battle and a lawsuit against Perry’s manager, Bernie Godfee, the court ruled in favor of the “Fireworks” singer. She stated that she is entitled to receive an amount of 1.8 million US dollars. The amount consists of the rental value of the mansion of $2.7 million, less the value of the capital retained, plus Westcott’s lost interest.

Westcott’s claims were dismissed with the judge ruling that the man appeared “coherent, committed, articulate and rational”.

The court said that mental incapacity is not enough in this matter. The property in question spans 2.5 acres of land and features eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a three-bedroom guest house, an infinity pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor fireplace, as well as a view of the nearby ocean. Perry and Bloom initially purchased the home for their family with their daughter, Daisy Dove.

The two have since split, and Perry is now dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by an external source.
