SS Rajamouli’s shoot for the upcoming film ‘Varanasi’ is in full swing, and a new picture from the sets gives a look at everything the team has been up to. The new look doing the rounds online is said to be from the much-awaited Ugrabhatti Caves series, which was first teased in the posters and trailer of Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra’s characters.

The now-viral image, which is said to be taken from the film’s elaborate set, features a massive bluescreen backdrop surrounded by carved rock formations and intricate rock pillar structures, giving fans a glimpse of the ambitious visual scale Rajamouli is preparing for the sequence. If the viral posts are correct, the sequence is said to be one of the standout moments featuring images of Mata Chinnamasta Devi, a fierce Hindu goddess, representing a fierce form of self-sacrifice, transformation and cosmic balance.

The film’s teaser depicted her holding her severed head and offering her blood to feed the attendees. According to reports, Mahesh Babu’s quest to find ancient artefacts leads him to a cave where he seeks her divine blessing to defeat an ancient evil force.While the leaked image doesn’t reveal any of the cast members, it does offer a glimpse into the film’s massive production and set design. The sets also feature blue screens, hinting at the extensive visual effects work that will go into the final film.

Previously, SS Rajamouli took to the African grasslands to capture real-time footage of migrating animals, paving the way for another action-packed adventure series. The director also admitted that he used IMAX cameras to shoot the film, only to capture the sheer visual scope of certain scenes, including the 25-minute Ramayana battle scene.The film is scheduled to be shown in theaters worldwide on April 7, 2027.
