The hype around Ramayana has been getting stronger ever since the teaser of director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological drama was unveiled. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, the two-part spectacle has already been hailed as one of the costliest and most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, with reports suggesting that the film is being made on a staggering budget of around Rs 4,000 crore.
Amidst this excitement, music maestro AR Rahman spoke about collaborating with the famous German composer
Hans Zimmer
for the film’s soundtrack, describing it as an “epic collaboration”.

Speaking with Fereydoun Shahryar in a recent interview, Rahman shared his thoughts on collaborating with Zimmer, whose work has earned him two Academy Awards and four Grammy Awards.“I think it’s an epic collaboration. And that too, to make a film of our own, from our country and our culture.
“It almost made him an ambassador to the world, to non-Indians,” Rahman said.The Oscar-winning composer also explained how Zimmer’s global reputation could draw international attention to the film. He added, “His name will definitely make a lot of people watch the film. At least a certain section will see what Hans Zimmer did in a Hindi film.”Rahman also praised Zimmer’s artistic vision and his influence on generations of musicians.
“He has also worn many hats. He is a true artist who thinks very differently from others. He has set a standard while inspiring generations. Working with him is definitely a great honour. It is one of the greatest Indian films.”

Rahman also spoke about his experience watching the trailer of Ramayana in 3D and expressed his admiration for the film’s scale and technological brilliance.“It’s one of the biggest films of my career. Not just the story, we all know the story and how to respect it, but the technology.
Just watching the 3D trailer is incredible. I have never seen anything Indian or in the whole world as a piece of art. “It’s absolutely incredible for the 3D, the music and the sound,” he said. Produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash under Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta and Ravi Dubey.Ramayana will be released in two parts, with the first installment hitting theaters on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part on Diwali 2027.
