Police said a 39-year-old man killed his wife and four children and then cut his wrists with a knife but survived in Wazirpur village in Gurugram late on Saturday evening. They added that he was transferred to a government hospital in the city and is still in critical condition.

Police said an early investigation indicated the man poisoned his 35-year-old wife, three daughters ages 14, 12 and 10, and his eight-year-old son.

A man kills his wife and four children before cutting his wrists
The man allegedly tried to end his life by cutting his wrists after poisoning his wife, three daughters and son, as mentioned in an earlier HT report.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the man’s brother returned home around 9:30 pm and found the family unconscious on the first floor. They were immediately taken to hospital, where doctors declared the woman and her four children dead, police told news agency PTI.
“We have informed the woman’s family and the bodies are being sent for post-mortem examination… Preliminary investigations suggest that the man poisoned all five and cut his wrist using a knife,” Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan told HT.
Turan said the family originally hailed from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and had been living in a rented house in Wazirpur for several years. “The man ran a salon in the area,” Turan said.
Neighbors informed the police control room between 9pm and 9.30pm on Saturday. When the emergency response team arrived at the home, they found the woman and children unconscious. The man was lying in a pool of blood.
An investigator said he would be interrogated after he recovered.
Why did the man kill his family?
The man told police that the family did not want to live, a senior police officer told PTI.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Naveen Sharma said: “The reason behind the incident is not yet clear. Whether Nazim killed his wife and children by poisoning or strangling them is under investigation. We have kept the bodies in a morgue and are investigating all angles.”
Sharma also told ANI that the husband had injuries on his hand, which may indicate his involvement, and the investigation is still ongoing.
He added that officials believe the motive appears to be internal problems, but evidence collected from the crime scene is under examination, and further action will be taken.
