On the ‘Figuring Out’ podcast with Raj Chamani, Janhvi Kapoor didn’t shy away from addressing the topic directly. She said: “I wouldn’t say I was addicted or was abusing alcohol, but I was drinking frequently. This was after a very traumatic experience in my life. I felt the need to say ‘I need to drink’.”The actress described how drinking served as a coping mechanism during a clearly turbulent period in her personal life.

What made Janhvi reevaluate her habits wasn’t a dramatic breaking point, but something much more subtle and profound. “I didn’t like what it was doing to my body. I didn’t like what I was feeling when I was waking up. This hangover feeling — it was giving me an intense feeling. It started… It was very strange. I could smell a very familiar scent of someone in my life who was struggling with addiction, and I would associate that smell with, ‘Okay, it’s not a good day,'” she explained.
“After she recognized that scent on herself, it was a quiet but firm wake-up call.
