Bharatpur/Digh: Nine people have been booked after a 60-year-old man from Jammu and Kashmir Kathua was killed on Friday in Rajasthan’s Digh over allegations that his son had kidnapped a 16-year-old girl, police said on Saturday.

According to the police, the incident occurred in the area of Pahari Police Station when the deceased, identified as Muhammad Abdullah, visited the girl’s family in Rajasthan on April 30 to settle the matter, after registering a complaint against his son on charges of kidnapping a minor girl. The girl was arrested in Chennai while a search is underway for the man, police said.
A senior police officer said that after the settlement on Friday, the girl’s family called Abdullah at their home, where the incident took place. A complaint has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita divisions against the girl’s father along with eight other people, the police said, adding that an investigation is underway.
