Saturday Night Live Writer Jimmy Fowley, who for months has asked for the public’s help in finding his missing sister, Christina Downer, now says she is “no longer alive.”
“LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and that the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation,” Foley wrote in an Instagram update on Wednesday. “Our prayers for her to be found safe have turned into prayers for the truth to be revealed and those responsible to be held accountable.”
Foley added that he believed Downer’s “phone and social media had been hacked” in the weeks before her disappearance and that those who took her phone “used it to hide the fact that she was gone, ask for money and create a false narrative that she was off the grid.”
“I’m sharing this because I believe whoever is responsible for this hopes to erase it in every possible way,” he wrote. “I want to amplify her story the only way I know how. And express that she was a beautiful and important person in this world, especially to me.”
He encouraged anyone with more information to “find the courage to come forward” and asked people to share his post and “talk about her story.”
“My sister can no longer defend herself, but I can, and I hope you can too,” he wrote.
Foley announced shortly before Christmas that Downer had disappeared, sharing a missing persons report on his Instagram account, and adding that he was “concerned that she is not safe.” He said in his first message that she was last seen in Los Angeles in November, and urged anyone with information to contact police.
