New Delhi: In a stunning run-fest at the Wankhede Stadium, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a thrilling six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, as they chased down a mammoth 244 with eight balls to spare in IPL 2026.The duo’s explosive efforts eclipsed the unbeaten record of 123 from

Ryan Rickleton

whose knock had earlier lifted Mumbai to 243/5 – their highest total batting first which looked imposing on paper.

Boss, Klassen turns the chase into a massacre

Chasing 244, SRH made a mockery of the target, racing to 249/4 in just 18.4 runs in what became the fourth highest successful chase in IPL history.Head set the tone with 76 off just 30 balls, smashing eight sixes and four boundaries.

However, his innings was backed by several lifelines, as MI squandered chances and lost a crucial advantage early on.Naman Dhir was involved in two missed chances, while Rickelton failed to find the edge behind the stumps, moments that proved costly as Head punished the hosts. After Head’s dismissal, Klaassen took over with an unbeaten 65 off 30 balls, dismantling the bowling attack with seven fours and four sixes.

He found support in Salil Arora, who finished with a quick 30 not out off 10 balls to wrap up the chase in emphatic fashion.Even Jasprit Bumrah (0 for 54) had a rare off-day, as he gave in badly as the SRH batsmen attacked relentlessly from the start.

Rickleton’s brilliance was in vain

Earlier, Rickleton produced one of the best knocks in Mumbai Indians history, remaining unbeaten with 123 off 55 balls, embellished with 10 fours and eight sixes. Not only was this the highest individual score for MI, it was also the fastest century in IPL history. He was well supported by Will Jacks, who hit 46 off 22 balls, and the skipper

Hardik Pandya

who chipped in with a quick-fire 31 off 15 deliveries. An opening stand of 93 in just seven overs laid the foundation, with MI reaching 78 in the powerplay. Rickleton anchored the innings throughout, ensuring that the hosts posted a fearsome total on a batting-friendly surface.Despite Rickelton’s heroics, Mumbai were left to rue missed opportunities and lack of ball control. For SRH, this was a clear-cut victory – one that not only extended their winning streak but also cemented them as serious IPL 2026 contenders.
