The deadliest hunt Season 22 has set premiere date: Friday, May 8 at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

Sadly, it will be a tragic season to remember. Todd Meadows, 25, a deckhand on the Aleutian Lady, died as a result of an accident during production.

Last month, Meadows Trey teammate John Green III said Page six The Bering Sea was “calm” in the late afternoon of February 20, but he added that the water was “only one or two degrees above freezing.” The ship’s crew members took turns boarding the boats to examine the crabs they had just caught. Green said Meadows was in a container, placed in the ship’s sling, when he fell “over the rail” and into the cold water.

“It’s one of those things that none of us really understand,” Green, 30, said. “I don’t know what happened.”

Green added that Meadows “was doing exactly what he was supposed to do.” “We say, ‘Oh my God, it’s going to sink to the bottom. We’re going to have no way of putting this pot back up again.'”

But Green says he saw Meadows escape the bowl and try to swim. He was not wearing a life jacket, nor were any of the crew members. Meadows was in the water for only “three or four minutes” before a swimmer assigned to the boat retrieved him from the sea. Green said he was already “lifeless.”

The crew attempted CPR and used a defibrillator, but the efforts were unsuccessful. They wrapped Meadows’ body in cloth and “place.”[d] We put it in the freezer to preserve it[ed] “Back in the city,” the post read.

“Everyone did everything they could,” Green said, adding that production cameras captured “everything.”

The Meadows incident has already been filmed, but will not be shown on television, says a person familiar with the production. The Season 22 premiere will include a tribute to Meadows, and subsequent episodes will include footage of Todd as he was photographed in the documented weeks before his death.

Below is the official Season 22 synopsis, courtesy of Discovery. Not that any of these things really matter in the long run.

As a new population of king crabs emerges farther north, the fleet moves 225 miles to St. George Island, facing colder weather and more extreme seas than any previous season as they work to sustain their livelihoods in the rapidly changing waters.

For the first time in decades, captains are abandoning familiar fishing grounds to pursue a rare breed of red king crab lurking in the frigid waters of the Far North. This elusive catch, worth a fortune, pushes the fleet into a remote region and tests their experience and resilience at the edge of the world.

In the first series, Captain Sig Hansen launches an unprecedented secret reconnaissance mission, deploying an underwater drone into uncharted waters in a daring attempt to locate a rare breed of royal lobster before the rest of the fleet arrives. Captain Wild Bill Wichrowski travels to St. George Island to share decades of his hard-earned knowledge, guiding Sage through new lands in pursuit of the biggest, richest crab that could determine his season.

Meanwhile, after losing his boat and his marriage, Captain Jake Anderson begins the season as a deckhand for the first time in eleven years. When an unexpected opportunity arises to restore the legendary Cornelia Marie, Jake returns to the captain’s chair, putting his reputation and his family’s future on the line for one last chance at redemption.
