Mohanlal shares ‘Kireedam’ 4K trailer; Sibi Malayil’s classic return in glory regained; Fans say: “Beautifully restored.”
Mohanlal has reignited nostalgia among cinema lovers by unveiling the 4K trailer of ‘Kireedam’ which is one of the most iconic films in the history of Malayalam cinema.The ‘Drishyam’ actor shared the restored trailer on Twitter with a simple caption saying ‘Official Trailer of Kireedam 4K’.
The newly released trailer showcases Kireedam in a heavily upgraded format.
The restoration was completed using an original 35mm film source. The project also includes Dolby Atmos audio.

The story that made history
Released in 1989, ‘Kireedam’ tells the story of Sethu, a young man who dreams of becoming a police officer and fulfilling his father’s aspirations. But one incident changed the course of his life. It pushes him into circumstances he never expected.
Directed by Sibi Malayil and written by AK Lohithadas, ‘Kireedam’ featured a stellar cast led by Mohanlal, Tilakan and Parvathy Jayaram. The supporting cast included Kaviyur Ponnamma, Murali, Srinath, Cochin Haneefa, Jagathi Sreekumar, Jagadish, Mamukoya, Uduvil Unnikrishnan and Maniyanpilla Raju.The film’s music was composed by Johnson, whose work added to its emotional impact. Upon its release in July 1989, ‘Kireedam’ was a huge commercial success and is still considered one of Mollywood’s best emotional dramas with a tragic ending. There was also a sequel to the film called “Chenkol”.On the other hand, Mohanlal was recently seen in the mystery drama ‘Drishyam 4’ which is now streaming on OTT.
