Rakesh Bedi is enjoying a renewed wave of popularity after the big reveal of his beloved character Jamil Jamali in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. After receiving widespread appreciation for his performance in the Aditya Dhar directorial, directed by Ranveer Singh, the veteran actor has now been praised by director and long-time collaborator David Dhawan, who also happens to be his colleague at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).David Dhawan expressed that the recognition Bedi is receiving now is long overdue, even if it comes decades later. He also revealed that the actor will be seen in his upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ in which he plays the lead role.

And Mrunal Thakur. The ‘Hero No 1’ director reacted to the appreciation received by his friend Rakesh Bedi. “Our friendship is 50 years old. He has worked in a lot of my films. He is in this film (Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai) as well.
I told him: “Fifty years ago they didn’t recognize you, they’re only discovering you now.” He’s a good actor, and he’s always been a good actor. I said: You are over seventy years old and you are receiving recognition. But it’s very good. “He totally deserved it,” David Dhawan told Bollywood Hungama.When asked if success has changed Rakesh Bedi, Dhawan hinted at a noticeable shift in his behaviour, albeit in an affectionate tone. “You can see the spark and the way he walks now. ‘Yaar teri chaal Change ho gayi, hamari baat hoti rehti hai (The way you walk has changed, we’re in touch).’ He’s my classmate, we even tore together in FTII. It’s amazing.”Over the years, David Dhawan and Rakesh Bedi have worked together in many blockbuster films, including Hero No. 1, Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, and the remake of Coolie No. 1.
