Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday criticized former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who resigned last week, calling him “vulnerable” and alleging that the JD(U) chief’s past actions allowed the BJP to completely control him.

Gandhi’s attack on Nitish, now a Rajya Sabha MP, came while the Congress leader was speaking at an election rally in Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu.

He claimed that the BJP was able to remove Nitish from the post of chief minister since the former chief minister was in danger and did not say a single word after sending him to the Rajya Sabha. Nitish, Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister, resigned on April 14, days after winning the Rajya Sabha elections from Bihar.

Without naming the JD(U) leader, the Congress leader said, “Look at what happened recently in Bihar. The Chief Minister of Bihar was removed and a BJP man was put there. Why? Because the Chief Minister of Bihar was compromised. He did not say a single word and silently went to the Rajya Sabha.”

Citing the example of Bihar, Rahul expressed similar concerns for Tamil Nadu, saying the BJP wants a state government “that it can completely control”.

“Because his past actions allowed the BJP to completely control him. This is what they want to do here in Tamil Nadu. They want a government that they completely control. They want a Prime Minister who does exactly what they say. This is something we will never allow them to do,” Gandhi added.
