DC The ultimate Batmanalready a publishing sensation, is now about to take over the world of brick building and video gaming.
The ultimate incarnation of Batman and Catwoman, featured in the comic book series by writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta, has become the latest playable character for players. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knighta new open-world action-adventure video game that will debut on May 19 for early access audiences and May 22 for general launch. While the Ultimate characters are starting to appear on apparel and the action figures are available for pre-order, this is the first time the characters will appear on screen outside of the pages of comic books. It foretells upcoming expansion.
The game is made in partnership between TT Games, creators of the best-selling Lego game series, including Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker SagaAnd Warner Bros. Games. It invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne’s journey to become the hero of Gotham City, drawing on decades of Batman films, TV shows, comic books and games, combined with DC lore and fun-filled LEGO humor.
The game allows players to choose different forms of Batman, as well as Catwoman and other characters, from various points in the Dark Knight’s media history.
The addition of Batman and Absolute Catwoman, which was only created in late 2024 with the launch of the Absolute Comics line, is a testament to the popularity of the comics and that version of the characters. The Ultimate Comics, which re-imagine major DC characters like Superman and Wonder Woman for more modern audiences, have sold nearly 12 million units since the line’s launch, with The ultimate Batman It represents approximately one-third of sales. Comics also enabled DC to surpass Marvel in market share for the first time this century.
“As a long-time fan of the Lego video games, I’m thrilled and honored to see Batman and Absolute Catwoman included in a Lego game Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight (Along with many other amazing iterations)! Snyder said in a statement. “I can’t wait for fans to see the Absolute Bros. come to life like only Lego toys can!”
Warner Bros. revealed Games on Wednesday announced an exciting video of Snyder playing and interacting with a demo of the game.
Dragotta was equally excited. “It’s great to see Absolute Batman and Absolute Catwoman part of the new Lego Batman video game and joining the legacy,” said the artist. “Now we know where this brick house gets its bricks from!”
Warner Bros. presented it. Games also has a sneak peek at the suit selection function.
The game promises combat with fluid attack sequences, superior takedowns, and powerful gadgets including Batarangs, Batclaws, grapple launchers, the Batglider, and let’s not forget a bunch of Batmobiles and Batcycles. (Other characters have their own equipment, so look out for Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer, Robin’s cable launcher, Nightwing’s battle staff, Batgirl’s Hakarang, and Catwoman’s whip.)
And there’s the entire world of Gotham City to explore, with locations like Ace Chemicals, the Gotham Botanical Gardens, Wayne Tower, and Arkham Asylum, among the places. And yes, there’s also a Batcave, where players can display their trophies and rewards.
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
