The Pink Palace is expanding.
In a significant milestone – its first large-scale expansion since the 1940s – the Beverly Hills Hotel is preparing five new public spaces to infuse dining, entertainment and relaxation offerings within one of Hollywood’s favorite retreats. The new spaces add to a stable that already includes the popular Polo Lounge, Fountain Coffee Room and Cabana Cafe, all of which will remain unchanged.
The Dorchester Collection estate has partnered with designer Ken Volk, who serves as creative director for the project. Through his signature company, Falk maintains studios in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles and a client list that includes hotels, individuals and brands. He previously collaborated with Pharrell Williams to launch the Goodtime Hotel in Miami, and is credited as creative director at Major Food Group and co-founder of Felix Roasting Co.
As for the expansion, set to be unveiled later this year, the Beverly Hills Hotel will offer a supper club and luxury dining destination with entertainment curated by the staff who programmed the Annabelle Arts Club and the Arts Club of London; a cocktail bar and outdoor terrace overlooking the Los Angeles skyline; an indoor and outdoor lounge for local cuisine, coffee and afternoon tea overlooking Sunset Boulevard; examination room; And a private dining room.
John Scanlon, general manager of the Beverly Hills Hotel, said the new spaces “will set a new standard” for excellence in the hotel’s landmark history.
“We are excited to create a collection of fresh, new, stunningly designed culinary and cocktail venues that will blend the charm of the iconic past with modern flair while honoring the character and tradition that has defined this hotel for more than a century,” said John Scanlon, general manager of the Beverly Hills Hotel. “What we are creating is a thoughtful balance between the hotel’s heritage-driven appeal and new momentum to maintain its enduring relevance. Our guests have asked for more reasons to enjoy the unique experience that only a Beverly Hills Hotel can provide, and we have heard them.”
Faulk added that he was “incredibly honored” to be drafted to help write a new chapter for the Beverly Hills Hotel, and notes that plans have been in the works for six years.
“Few places have shaped my sense of Los Angeles as an enchanting Shangri-La more than this place. Six years ago, we were tasked with creating a series of new spaces that would surprise and delight but somehow feel as if they had always been there. Highlights include a restored balcony that stretches across the facade for guests to see and be seen, a chic all-day café that opens into the lobby, a screening room fit for Jack Warner, and a show-filled supper club that instantly transports guests to a golden age. My goal is for these new drinking and dining experiences to pave the way for a generation Coming from magic and Hollywood traditions.
Opened in 1912, the Beverly Hills Hotel features 12 acres of tropical gardens off Sunset Boulevard. It features 210 rooms and suites, including 23 floors. It regularly hosts a wide range of elite events ranging from parties and industry festivals to weddings and private events.
