“In the next modernization plan, we will take up drone and anti-drone training in a big way,” CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan said while referring to the drone attacks during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the prevailing conflict in Iran.

Addressing the media on the eve of CISF’s 57th Ascension Day, Ranjan said they have set up a drone training center and anti-drone capabilities at their unit at Behror in Rajasthan, and MHA has given approval to set up a Remote Pilot Training Organization for training in operating drones and anti-drone systems.

He added that the CISF has been designated as the nodal agency for air threat at critical installations.

Likewise, nowadays, every sector faces cyber threats. Therefore, system security has become very important because everything is done through the system, he said.

“The CISF is also going a long way to develop its capability in the field of cyber security. We have already developed some cyber commandos,” the Director General said.

Within the framework of the modernization plan for 2026-2030, CISF has identified 76 elements, up to $The Rs 819 crore, officials said, includes training on drone solutions, setting up a full-fledged cybersecurity lab, a dedicated data center and a zero-trust network to protect its digital infrastructure.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will grace the Lifting Day celebration at CISF’s Mundali unit and inaugurate two housing projects for the force.

Shah is scheduled to inaugurate a modern residential complex in Rajarhat, Kolkata and another residential project in Garhi Maidan, Delhi.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the 9th Reserve Battalion in Nagarbera, Assam; 11th Reserve Battalion, Nashik, Maharashtra; and the 12th Reserve Battalion in Sihore, Madhya Pradesh.

Today, with a strength of two thousand personnel, the Central Force provides security cover to 361 vital installations spread across 25 states and five union territories.

He said the CISF guards 71 airports, Delhi Metro Rail, 10 chemicals and fertilisers, 105 power plants, 18 nuclear facilities, 16 facilities of the Ministry of Space, 47 government buildings housing key ministries of the Government of India, 15 sea ports, 6 defense units, 36 oil and natural gas units, 17 steel plants, 10 coal mines, 9 private sectors, etc.

CISF’s Private Security Group provides security to over 156 protectees. CISF’s Special Fire Wing with approximately 9,700 personnel provides fire management services to 114 units spread across 23 states of the country.

He said CISF personnel saved eight precious lives during medical emergencies, fire incidents and by preventing suicide attempts across the country over the past year.

Ranjan said that during Operation Sindoor, amid heavy shelling by Pakistani forces, CRPF personnel analyzed shell trajectories and evacuated nearly 250 civilians – including women, children and NHPC staff – to safety.

To strengthen the force, the Home Ministry enhanced the SSF strength from 2 lakh to 2.2 lakh personnel last year.

This 10% increase in force, approved in August 2025, aims to enhance the security of critical infrastructure such as airports, seaports and industrial centres. He pointed out that approximately 14,000 employees will be appointed annually over the next five years.

He added that while 32,733 personnel were recruited into the force in 2025, 21,790 personnel will be inducted this year.
