Prime Minister Modi made this statement during a joint press conference with the President of Finland.

“India and Finland believe in the rule of law, dialogue and diplomacy. Military conflict alone cannot solve any issue, be it Ukraine or West Asia. We are both convinced that global institutions need urgent reform,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.

The intense exchange of missiles and drones that shook the entire Middle East region was caused by the US-Israeli strikes on Iran that led to the death of Khamenei last weekend.

Most recently, on Wednesday, the Iranian Navy ship – Iris Dina – was attacked by a missile off the coast of Sri Lanka, India’s neighbour. The attack on the Iranian naval ship led to the death of dozens on board.

While Iranian authorities said that the naval ship was a guest of India for a military exercise, government sources said that the ship and its crew were Indian guests only from February 16 to 25. Moreover, the ship did not seek any help from India after that.

IRIS Dena participated in the International Fleet Review (IFR) in Vizag from 16 to 25 February, followed by the US-Israeli attack on Iran on 28 February.

In the joint press statement with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that the world is currently going through a period of instability and uncertainty.

He said, “Conflicts are continuing in many parts of the world, from Ukraine to West Asia. In such a global environment, India and Europe, two of the world’s major diplomatic powers, are entering a golden era in their relations.”

Our growing cooperation gives new strength to global stability, development and shared prosperity, Prime Minister Modi said.

Emphasizing that a historic free trade agreement between India and the European Union was recently signed, he said the agreement will strengthen trade, investment and technology cooperation between India and Finland.

India and Finland are important partners in areas such as digital technology, infrastructure and sustainability…”
