A retired air force officer was allegedly shot by unidentified assailants at his restaurant in Lucknow, a police official in Uttar Pradesh said on Saturday, adding that the injured man has been admitted to hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

The victim, identified as Avadhesh Kumar Pathak, suffered gunshot wounds in the attack, which took place at 10:30 pm on January 30 when Kumar was walking towards his car.

DCP South Nipun Aggarwal said a first information report was lodged based on the complaint of the victim’s wife. He also said that the investigation is going on.

“On 30th January, at approximately 10:30 PM, the Sushant Golf City Police Station received information that Awadhesh Kumar Pathak, currently running a cloud kitchen in Anshal Chowki area of Sushant Golf City, was shot while getting into his vehicle. The police immediately reached the spot and a case was registered based on his condition and currently a case has been registered to take him to the hospital. A complaint has been filed by his wife and the next Legal action is being taken…”
