Mumbai: On Friday night, a large portion of the western suburbs of Mumbai, from Vile Parle to Goregaon, experienced a power outage that disrupted supply for approximately ninety minutes.

In Bandra West, Khar West, Juhu, Andheri West, Goregaon West, Malad West, Varsova, Kandivali West, Vile Parle, Oshiwara, and Lokhandwala Complex, thousands of families were impacted.
A number of locals expressed their dissatisfaction with the outage and lack of updates on social media site X. Responding from its official handle, Adani Electricity said: “There is currently a power outage in the western part of Mumbai due to a tripping issue. Our team is working hard to find a solution and quickly restore the power supply. We value your patience and are sorry for any inconvenience.
Additionally, customers reported that the company’s website was down and that the utility’s 19122 helpline was unresponsive during the outage. One user, Ameya H, wrote on X, “It is completely unacceptable to have no updates or timelines even after an outage of over an hour.”

A representative for Adani Electricity later released a statement claiming that the disruption was caused by an uncommon technical error that set off network security measures.
“Work on restoration was initiated right away. The spokesperson stated that the company apologized for the inconvenience and that about 50% of the supply was restored within 30 minutes and about 90% within 60 minutes. There was no indication of the disturbance’s precise origin.
Concerns regarding essential services were also voiced by locals. This western suburb contains a number of hospitals and assisted living facilities that might be impacted. D Shah, a resident of Andheri’s Lokhandwala, stated that the company ought to be more open.
