“UM head football coach, Sherron Moore, has been terminated for cause, effective immediately,” Michigan athletic director Ward Manuel said in a statement in December 2025. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an employee. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and UM maintains a zero tolerance for such conduct.”

Paige Schiffer suffered from a glycogen disorder called Pompe disease
Schafer spoke about her rare genetic disorder, known as Pompe disease, in her Chicago Bears profile in 2016. The disease makes it difficult for the body to break down glycogen, which can cause a buildup in muscle cells and lead to potential heart problems and muscle damage, according to multiple outlets, including the National Organization for Rare Disorders.
The Bears’ website described her as an “active college student” at the time who was “going for 30-minute jogs, taking cycling classes, and lifting weights almost every day without getting tired.”
But in 2015, when Schiffer was a senior at Purdue University, she felt “overwhelmed” with pain “all over her body.”
“I was going for a run and I couldn’t run for more than 5 minutes because my lungs were starting to get affected,” the 22-year-old said, according to the Bears website. “It was really hard to catch my breath and my legs felt heavy, like I could barely lift them.”
During April 2026 GMA In an interview, Schiffer revealed that her Pompe disease affected her pregnancy during her relationship with Moore. Doctors advised her to terminate the pregnancy for her safety.
“Many doctors and experts told me that it would not be right or healthy for me to keep the baby,” she said.
