“It was somewhere on that street. It was a white van, full size, no printing on the side. It was parked on the street,” McIntyre said. He added that the scene was unusual, noting, “Usually people coming to work at your house will have a company car or something written on it if they’re independent”.

McIntyre confirmed he reported the van to police but could not remember the day he first saw it. His wife Lisa McIntyre said the family was now considering installing security cameras despite already having a “pretty secure residence”.
“Brett and I were talking. And we thought, well, we should probably get one. We have a pretty safe place to live. Metal doors. I’m kind of a deep sleeper, so it’s unlikely that anyone could get past a metal door. But we’re a little concerned,” she told the New York Post.
Investigations and family applicationsGuthrie, 84, was reported missing on Feb. 2, 2026, and the case was declared a criminal investigation the next day.
Officials released an approximate timeline, placing her disappearance between January 31 and February 1, 2026.
Authorities said at a news conference Thursday that they believe Guthrie may still be alive and are actively investigating all leads, including reports of unusual activity around his residence.
Savannah Guthrie, along with her siblings, issued a video message pleading for anyone to hold their mother. “We need to know, without a doubt, that he is alive, and that you have him. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, contact us,” Savannah said.
So far, police have not identified any specific individuals, and the ransom note sent to local and national media outlets has not provided proof of life or direct contact with the sender.
The investigation is ongoing.
