Rudy GiulianiA spokesman for the former New York City mayor and disbarred attorney confirmed that he was hospitalized in May 2026. The apparent health crisis emerged just days after Giuliani opened his “America’s Mayor Live” online show with a raspy voice.
“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he fights with the same level of toughness we are talking about,” spokesman Ted Goodman said in a statement. “We ask that you join us in praying for America’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani.”
Less than a year ago, Giuliani was involved in a car accident in New Hampshire on August 30, 2025, which led to his hospitalization. At the time, he was helping a victim of domestic violence, according to his representative, and then was hit from behind by a car. Giuliani’s colleagues, peers and supporters naturally wonder how he recovered and what happened to him.

Giuliani’s spokesman, Goodman, announced that Giuliani was taken to hospital on May 3, 2026, in critical condition. He did not specify why the former mayor was hospitalized.

On August 30, 2025, Giuliani was rear-ended by a car after helping a domestic violence victim in New Hampshire, his spokesman and security chief said, Michael RagusaAnnounce.
“Before the incident happened [Giuliani] “It was reported by a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident,” Ragusa explained in his public statement. “Mayor Giuliani immediately rendered aid and called 911. He remained at the scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety. Then, while traveling on the interstate, Mayor Giuliani was struck from behind by a vehicle at a high speed.

Ragusa added that the Republican “was transferred to a nearby trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a fracture of the thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and bruises, in addition to injuries to his left arm and lower leg” as a result of the accident.
At press time, it was unclear who hit Giuliani on the road. However, Ragusa insisted in a separate tweet that this was “not a targeted attack.”
Giuliani was “recovering greatly” and was in “good spirits” after his injury, Ragusa tweeted on August 31, 2025.
Rudy Giuliani’s health issues
Aside from his injuries in a 2025 car accident, Giuliani has had previous health concerns. In April 2000, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He was 55 years old at the time and has made a full recovery.
To fight the cancer, Giuliani chose to implant radioactive seeds in his prostate, then underwent double radiation instead of undergoing surgery, according to NBC News.
