Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, widely recognized as Bad Bunny, used his 68th Grammy Awards acceptance speech to criticize US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and their operations.

Bad Bunny used his Grammy acceptance speech to oppose ICE while celebrating his historic win for album of the year. (Reuters)The criticism comes as the rapper achieved the historic milestone of becoming the first artist to win album of the year with an entirely Spanish-language album. He received three gold-plated Gramophone Awards, making this year particularly successful for him.

Dressed in a stylish black suit, Bunny took to the stage to receive the album of the year award As the audience gave him a standing ovation, he delivered a powerful message opposing ICE. Speaking in Spanish (with an English translation), he said, “Before I say thank God, I’m going to say ICE out. We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we’re human and we’re Americans.”

“Also, I want to tell people, I know it’s hard not to hate these days, and I’ve been thinking that sometimes we get corrupted, I don’t know how to say it in English.”

Pam Bondi announced the arrest of two othersMeanwhile, the Trump administration announced two more arrests in connection with the Jan. 18 disruption of a church service in Minnesota by anti-ICE protesters.

Those arrested were identified as Ian Davis Austin and Jerome DeAngelo Richardson.

Regarding X, Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote Monday: “If you riot in a place of worship, we’ll find you. We’ve arrested two more people in connection with the coordinated attack on the Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota: Ian Davis Austin and Jerome DeAngelo Richardson.”

A total of nine people have been arrested in this incident. That includes former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who was taken into custody Friday while he was in Los Angeles to cover the Grammy Awards.
