A 7-month-old baby girl was fatally struck by a stray bullet in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon, sparking anger and grief as horrifying surveillance footage captured the moment her mother realized the tragedy.The baby, identified as Kaori Patterson Moore, was in the stroller with her parents near the intersection of Humboldt and Moore streets in Williamsburg when gunfire erupted around 1:15 p.m., police said.

The passenger allegedly opened fire before the pair fled the scene.According to investigators, the suspects were walking in the wrong direction on the street when they approached the crowd. The gunman fired several shots, one of which hit the child in the head.Surveillance footage from a nearby bodega shows the horrific aftermath.
The child’s mother, Leanna Charles Moore, was initially unaware of what had happened and was caring for her 2-year-old son when she looked into the stroller and discovered her daughter was bleeding.Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion. Some initially mistook the shooting for fireworks before realizing the seriousness of the situation.One of the residents said that he saw the child lying on the ground while his mother was screaming in distress.
Another witness said she initially thought the sounds were firecrackers before she felt debris hit her legs.The girl’s father took her to Woodhull Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m. Her older brother suffered minor injuries and was treated.

Police said the suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle but collided with an oncoming vehicle two blocks away.The passenger was thrown from the bike and taken to hospital, where he was later identified as a person of interest and taken into custody in connection with a separate domestic incident.
He had not been formally charged in the shooting as of Wednesday evening.
The authorities began a manhunt for the second suspect, who was riding a motorcycle.Police Commissioner Jessica S. said: Teich said the investigation is ongoing and officials are working to determine the motive and intended target.
