The search for Nancy Guthrie has entered its ninth day, with investigators continuing their relentless efforts to locate her and identify the person responsible for her disappearance. Authorities suspect Guthrie, 84, was taken against her will from her residence in the Catalina Foothills, an area north of Tucson, Arizona.
Nancy Guthrie disappearance case: A former FBI official cast doubt on the authenticity of the kidnapping, noting the strange ransom demands from the alleged kidnappers and the lack of evidence of life. Missing Nancy Guthrie: Ex-FBI officer raises doubts about abduction angleMeanwhile, a former FBI official casts doubt on some aspects of Nancy’s disappearance.
Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swicker expressed doubt as to whether Nancy was actually abducted during an appearance on Fox News’ The Big Weekend show.
He said the claims of the alleged abductors were absurd and questioned why they took so long to provide proof of life.
“If it was a kidnapping, it would be a very simple matter to provide authentication and proof of life,” Swicker said.
“I’m very skeptical about this,” he continued. “Is this really a kidnapping? Does anyone really have her, and is she really alive?”
The change in sum requested by the alleged kidnappers also seemed strange to Sweiker.
“Now remember, it wasn’t a million long ago. All of a sudden, it’s six million,” he noted. “I really think there’s a third party playing with them, opportunists who think they can exploit this situation.”
