A former Metropolitan Police (London Police) officer has been accused of defrauding luxury brands out of thousands of pounds by falsely claiming that expensive online purchases never arrived.Sona Harrison Aziz, 28, allegedly obtained goods from brands including Christian Dior, Cartier and Moncler through bogus non-delivery claims, according to The Telegraph.Products mentioned in court included a Dior bikini worth £700, a Cartier wedding ring worth around £2,000, a Moncler jacket worth £840, and an Apple MacBook worth £2,599 bought from Currys.Prosecutors allege Harrison Azeez improperly accessed police systems between January and September 2022 while carrying out the scam.She has been charged with multiple crimes, including fraud, abuse of police powers and attempting to interfere with the investigation.The court heard that she hid her mobile phone from investigators and falsely claimed it was broken and lost before later destroying it after police searched her home.Harrison Aziz, from Croydon, south London, denied all the accusations.The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command under the supervision of the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
She appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court alongside Edgar Moraes, who is accused of encouraging the abuse of police powers. The other defendant, Eugene Nono, did not attend the hearing due to train cancellations.During the hearing, District Judge Daniel Sternberg denied a request from Harrison Aziz’s attorney to bar the media from identifying her, after concerns were raised about her mental health and concerns about publicity.The case will next be heard at Southwark Crown Court on June 2. Harrison Aziz remains on unconditional bail.
