The online war of words between Indian-American billionaire investor Vinod Khosla and tech billionaire Elon Musk continues to escalate. In the most recent social media exchange, the venture capitalist hit out at Musk for the “seemingly racist” comments.
The Indian-American billionaire asked the SpaceX founder to “not tweet ‘seemingly’ racist things next time”. (Bloomberg)The controversy began with a message shared by Tesla’s CEO in 2025, in which he said that “white people are a rapidly shrinking minority of the world population.” In response to that comment, Khosla accused Musk of promoting racism and endorsing WAGA (“White America Great Again”). Kasturi responded by calling Khosla “pretentious” and “retarded”.

“Instead of bringing your family into this, how about trying not to tweet the ‘ideal’ racist thing next time? If you admit you’re not trying to establish a white society in America and aren’t waga, and that racism isn’t behind many of your lamentations about the white birth rate, population % decline, and many similar lamentations,” he wrote in a lengthy post on X.
Musk also criticized Khosla’s handling of a public beach issue, to which Khosla responded that “you’ll appreciate me standing up for the principle of protecting the ‘private property principle’ rather than giving what the Coastal Commission wants”.

Musk vs. Khosla: Where It BeganPrior to this post, Khosla had targeted Musk for his claim that “whites are a rapidly diminishing minority” and accused him of racism.

In a direct reply, Musk called Khosla “pretentious” and “retarded”. Responding to claims of racism, Musk said his partner Shivan Gillis is half-Indian and their eldest son is named after the Indian-born astrophysicist who won the Nobel Prize.
“Vinod, you are not just such a pompous **hole that you tried to stop the public from using a public beach near your house, you are completely backwards. My partner, Shivan, is half-Indian and with him my eldest son is named after the great Indian physicist Chandrasekhar,” he wrote on X.
