Trump: The war with Iran is

DUBAI/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the war he launched with Israel on Iran was “close to the end,” even as 10,000 additional US troops moved to West Asia, and as Pakistani army chief Asim Munir arrived in Tehran with a mediation team to try to prevent a renewal of the conflict. The Washington Post, citing current and former US officials, reported that the United States will send additional forces before the end of April as Washington tries to increase pressure on Tehran. These forces include those aboard the USS George H.W. Bush and the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group. It was announced earlier that nearly 50,000 soldiers participated in the war operations against Iran. This mobilization comes amid efforts to extend a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

A senior Iranian source told Reuters that Mounir, who mediated in the last round of talks, is in Iran to “narrow the gaps” between the two sides. “I think you’re going to see a great day a couple of days ago,” Trump told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, according to Channel X, adding that he did not think it would be necessary to extend the ceasefire. “I think it’s close to the end, yes,” Trump said in an interview on Fox Business Network, conducted on Tuesday and broadcast on Wednesday. “I mean, I see it as very close to the end.” “We’ll see what happens. I think they want a deal very badly.
