Police have named a teenage couple who died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at an East Yorkshire holiday park.
Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Slater, 17, were found in a rented property at Little Eden Holiday Park, near Bridlington, on Wednesday.
Humberside Police say a 42-year-old man has become the second person to be arrested on suspicion of gross negligence over their deaths.
An extension was granted for the 33-year-old man arrested on Thursday, allowing police to detain him for another 12 hours.
Northbank Divisional Commander Ch Supt Matt Peach said in a statement on Friday: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the two young people whose families have identified Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Slater, 17, who tragically lost their lives.
“Specialist trained officers are providing ongoing support at this very distressing time and I would again ask that the public refrain from speculation regarding their privacy.
“Since we raised the concern call for safety on Wednesday morning, a dedicated team of detectives and specialist officers have continued detailed inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths, which are believed to be linked to carbon monoxide poisoning.”
An online fundraising page set up for Ethan’s family, who live in Sheffield, raised more than £16,000 in two days.
The page said: “It is with unimaginable heartbreak that I am writing this. Our son Ethan died tragically and unexpectedly at the age of just 17 with his beautiful girlfriend at his side.
“No parent should have to write these words, no family should have to go through this pain.
“Ethan has his whole life ahead of him. He will never pass his driving test. He will never celebrate his 18th birthday. He will never reach the milestones we imagined waiting for him.
“He began his journey into adulthood, taken too quickly with plans, laughter and the future.”
Ethan is described as kind, warm, funny and protective.
“He carried himself with a quiet strength and loyalty that made us so proud to call him our son. He was loved beyond measure.”
Authorities received a call of concern for security at the park on Wednesday. Some holidaymakers are understood to have been asked to leave the park where families had gathered for the half-term school break.
Police said a cordon was in place at the park and they were continuing to work in coordination with Humberside Fire & Rescue and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, as well as the Health and Safety Executive.
