David Booth had 10 nights of terrifying visions showing the fatal plane crash of Flight 191 that killed 273 people/YouTube
In the history of aviation accidents, some tragedies have strange stories that stick around long after investigators determine what went wrong. One of the most disturbing accounts associated with a major air disaster involves American Airlines Flight 191, which crashed near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on May 25, 1979, killing 273 people. Years later, a man named David Booth claimed to have seen recurring visions of the crash in the days leading up to the disaster, disturbing sightings he said he reported to authorities before the plane took off.
A vision repeated night after night
Booth later described the experience as something different from an ordinary dream. “Everyone talks about a dream and everyone has dreams. I didn’t have a dream, I had a vision.” According to Booth, the scene was repeated the same way every time. He said he saw a bright day and a large airport with a long runway with a large passenger plane preparing for departure. “The dream will always start the same way. It was a bright, sunlit day and I’m looking at a very big airport with a very long runway and there’s a really big plane.” In the vision, Booth said he could clearly identify the airline. “i can see American Airlines. “I see the plane starting to move down the runway and picking up speed.”But as the plane began to take off, something seemed wrong. “Suddenly, as the engine is running, there is a perception in my mind that there is something wrong with the sound the engine is making.” The plane then rose into the air briefly before disaster struck, Booth said. We will talk later on the YouTube channel Our supernatural worldHe described seeing the plane ascend and then suddenly roll before descending back toward the ground.
“It goes straight up into the air before it turns around and goes straight back to the ground where it explodes into this huge inferno and then this wave of despair.” He said the emotional impact of the scene seemed almost physical. “Just like a physical object hitting you in the chest.”
Ten nights of the same disturbing vision
Experiencing such a dream once would be upsetting for anyone. Booth said the same vision came back night after night. According to his account, this sequence was repeated ten times over ten consecutive nights, each time repeating the same disastrous moment. He said the stress of repeatedly regaining vision became exhausting. “Every day, it got worse and worse and worse. Not knowing what to do, not knowing what I was supposed to do. Not being able to forget the image that was seared, not just in my mind, but in the fabric of my entire being.” Unsure of what to do, Booth decided to contact the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to report what he had seen.
Calls for FAA
Booth eventually reached Jack Parker, the FAA’s director of public affairs, who took his calls seriously even though the information he received was vague. Parker later stated that Booth did not appear to be irrational. “David seemed completely sane and credible, and there was nothing strange about him at all. He had had a bad dream seven nights in a row (at that point).” Parker said he listened carefully each time Booth called, but the visions lacked any specific details that authorities could act on. “I was talking to him and listening to him, but David’s dream didn’t give me enough information to do anything with it. It gave no location, no flight, and some numbers that didn’t make any sense.” Parker said he handled the calls with respect but made clear it was nothing officials could realistically investigate. “I said, ‘Thank you. There’s nothing we can do about it but thank you for the information.’
American Airlines Flight 191 crash
On May 25, 1979, the disaster Booth feared became a reality. American Airlines Flight 191, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10 flying from Chicago to Los Angeles, crashed moments after takeoff from O’Hare International Airport. Shortly after the plane left the runway, its left engine separated from the wing, causing severe damage that led to a rapid loss of control.

The plane rolled and crashed in an open field near the airport before bursting into flames. All 271 people on board and two people on the ground were killed, bringing the total death toll to 273. There were no survivors, making this the deadliest aviation accident in US history at the time.
Learning about the disaster
Booth later said that he felt something had changed on the final night of the visions. According to his account, the dream ended with the feeling that he would not return. The next morning, he went to work as usual, but shortly after arriving, he received devastating news. He remembers the moment he was told about the accident. “I got up, and went to work. I had been at work for 15 minutes when the phone rang. “Dave, I’m sorry to tell you, American Airlines flight DC-10 crashed an hour ago on takeoff. “No one survived.” When Parker later learned of the disaster, he said the similarities between Booth’s account and the incident itself were troubling. “I was amazed at how accurate it was. What he dreamed was basically what happened.”Commenting on this experience, Parker said that this feeling was difficult to explain. “You have to experience it to understand how strange it is.”
Unresolved questions and strange stories
For Booth, the experience never quite faded away. Years later, he admitted that he still had visions and wondered if anything else could be done. “I still think about it and I still always wonder was there anything else I could have done?”
In the wake of the incident, other strange stories also began circulating locally. Drivers passing by the crash site reported seeing strange white lights moving across the field where the plane fell. Residents at a nearby trailer park described unexplained knocking noises and dogs barking in what appeared to be an empty field. Some residents even claimed that a confused man showed up at their doors late at night and asked for his belongings back before disappearing again. Description of an account a The “Burning Man” who “smells of gasoline” He requests an emergency phone call. These stories have never been verified, but have become part of the folklore surrounding the disaster.
The ill-fated reputation of Flight 191
The crash of Flight 191 also fueled another aviation myth. The flight number itself has become associated with several tragic accidents. Since 1963, six different flights bearing the number 191 have ended in fatal accidents. Whether coincidental or not, this number has gained an ominous reputation in aviation circles. However, for David Booth, the scariest part of the story remains those ten nights before the accident, and the disturbing vision he says he couldn’t stop seeing.
