Social media influencer Sarah Jillson, 43, was shot to death in her Oklahoma home by her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffy, less than two weeks after she posted a viral video on TikTok accusing him of being a pedophile.
Authorities believe Duffy later died by suicide.according to NBC NewsGilson obtained an emergency protective order against Duffy in June after police informed her that he was accused of molesting a minor.On July 11, she shared a video on TikTok that referenced a Netflix documentary, writing that she “just found out” that her soon-to-be ex-husband was a pedophile. The post came weeks before the fatal shooting.
A 911 call captured screams before the shooting
Officers responded late Thursday night after a 911 caller reported hearing a woman screaming, followed by what sounded like a gunshot, police said. Dispatchers were unable to call back the caller.Moments later, Gilson’s stepson ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911, telling authorities that his stepfather had shot his mother.When officers arrived at the home, they found Gilson and Duffy dead with gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators said the case appears to be a murder-suicide.
The harassment allegations are under federal review
The allegations against Duffy stem from a June 9 incident involving a 15-year-old girl on a travel basketball team he coached.Police said another coach intervened after witnessing inappropriate contact and reported the matter to the girl’s father. Investigators also said similar alleged behavior occurred over an extended period across multiple states.Because the alleged crime occurred on tribal land and Duffy is a member of the Osage Nation, the case has been referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for possible federal prosecution.Court records also show Gilson requested another emergency protective order in July, alleging Duffy had a gun, threatened suicide and went into hiding. He was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from her and leave their home.
Children survive the tragedy
Gilson’s son, who was inside the home, was taken into custody before being released to a parent not involved in the incident, authorities said. Gilson is survived by a son and a daughter.An online fundraiser described her as an “amazing mother” whose children were the center of her world, and said she worked tirelessly to provide them with the best lives possible.
