Ohio State University President Ted Carter abruptly resigned, citing an “inappropriate relationship,” and the university’s Board of Trustees accepted the resignation at an emergency board meeting on March 7.
Carter told trustees before that meeting that he had been in an inappropriate relationship with “an individual seeking public resources to support his personal business.” The university did not clarify what was meant by an inappropriate relationship or whether there were additional details.Carter, a former chancellor of the University of Nebraska System and a vice admiral in the U.S. Navy, begins his term in 2024.
