UAE schools will resume in-person learning from April 20 with a hybrid option for private institutions

UAE schools will resume in-person learning from April 20.

Classrooms are set to reopen across the UAE, with authorities confirming that all students and staff will return to in-person learning from April 20, while private schools retain the option of adopting a hybrid model when needed. The Ministry of Education announced the resumption of in-person learning for all registered children, students, and educational and administrative staff in both nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools, starting Monday, April 20, 2026. The decision comes after schools completed the required preparation measures, including facility preparations, staff training, and updated safety and security procedures aimed at ensuring a safe and reassuring environment for students and their families. The ministry said that private schools will have the necessary flexibility to implement the hybrid rotation model if necessary, in line with approved regulations and under the supervision of local education authorities. This approach aims to reflect the readiness of individual institutions and support smooth implementation. She added that schools that choose the hybrid model must carefully organize staff distribution to maintain continuity of learning.

Teachers should not be required to deliver in-person and remote lessons at the same time, in order to protect the quality of education and effectively manage workloads. The authorities also stated that all educational institutions will remain prepared to shift to alternative learning modes if necessary, ensuring the continuity of education with flexibility. Following this announcement, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai said that private schools in the emirate will resume on-site learning based on their readiness and full compliance with the health and safety measures determined by the relevant authorities.
