As uncertainty hampers travel across the region, Saudi Arabia has stepped up with large-scale hospitality efforts in Mecca. The Makkah Chamber of Commerce has allocated 2,500 fully equipped hotel rooms to host citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries stranded at the Kingdom’s airports, in implementation of the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz. This decision comes after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques agreed to host all stranded citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and ordered that they be provided with comfort until conditions allow for their safe return to their country. The directive calls for facilitating all necessary procedures to host and honor citizens of the GCC countries, while providing them with full support and hospitality throughout their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a quick response, the Mecca Chamber began the required logistical arrangements.
Hotels across the city are prepared to receive guests, with 2,500 rooms equipped and supported by comprehensive services to ensure comfort and proper care. Abdul Mohsen Al-Ajlan, Chairman of the Chamber’s Hotels and Tourism Committee, confirmed the size of the allocation, and said that the effort reflects the Kingdom’s human-centered approach. He stressed that supporting the citizens of the stranded Gulf Cooperation Council countries demonstrates solidarity with the neighboring Gulf countries, adding that Mecca remains a home for everyone who reaches its land. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to regional unity and hospitality during times of turmoil, ensuring stranded travelers are accommodated with dignity so they can safely return to their countries.
