The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Portugal signed an agreement granting mutual visa exemptions to holders of diplomatic and special passports, representing a new step in strengthening relations between the two countries.The agreement was signed in Lisbon on Tuesday by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Portuguese Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel.The agreement aims to facilitate travel and communication between the two countries while enhancing joint coordination and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation.The signing took place during Prince Faisal’s official visit to Portugal, where the two ministers also held extensive discussions on regional and international developments.During the discussions, Prince Faisal congratulated Portugal on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2027-2028. He expressed his confidence that Portugal’s membership would contribute to achieving international peace and security.The Saudi Foreign Minister also thanked Portugal for its support on regional issues, including its official recognition of the State of Palestine and its support for peaceful initiatives aimed at implementing the two-state solution.
Prince Faisal also praised Portugal’s hosting of the King Abdullah Global Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Lisbon, highlighting the organization’s role in promoting dialogue, understanding and coexistence between different cultures and religions.
