Who was Rondell Moore?
Moore was a native of Indiana and began his football career in high school, attending Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He continued to play the sport at Purdue University and was named an All-American as a senior. In 2021, he was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the NFL Draft.
In 2024, he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons, then played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025.
Upon learning of the wide receiver’s death, the Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell Craft a greeting. He wrote: “I am devastated by the news of Rondell’s passing. While Rondell was a member of the Vikings for a short time, he was someone we knew well and cared deeply about. He was a humble, soft-spoken, respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots. As a player, he was disciplined, loyal and resilient despite facing adversity several times as injuries sidelined him throughout his career.”
How did Rondel Moore die? Cause of death updates
Moore’s official cause of death had not been released at press time. However, according to WLKY, investigators found him in a parking garage, and believe he died from his self-inflicted gunshot wound.

What happened to Rondel Moore?
It remains unclear how Moore spent his final days. His last Instagram post was shared two days before news of his death broke. It was a collage of images, beginning with a shot of Moore sitting in the driver’s seat of a car with a large white briefcase labeled “Work in Progress.”
As previously reported, Tomlin, the Floyd County coroner, said Moore’s cause of death is under investigation and that there is “no current threat to the public.”
