On January 30, a deadly and tragic incident occurred at an Olive Garden restaurant in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. A male cook has died after burying his head in a hot deep-fryer in full view of colleagues and customers.

What unfolded at the Olive Garden?The New York Post reported that the worker undressed before placing his head in the boiling grease fryer.

The victim’s co-workers panicked and tried to intervene when the cook tried to dive head first into the fryer. A female colleague suffered minor burns while trying to stop the cook.

Cook died after being taken to a local hospital for treatment of severe burns, according to authorities.

Pennsylvania State Police spokeswoman Trooper Lauren Lesher told The Smoking Gun that authorities have classified the incident as an attempted suicide. He also clarified that out of respect for individual and family privacy, more personal details of the cook will not be revealed.

The restaurant was temporarily closed after the incident but later reopened.

The 911 dispatcher shook911 dispatch audio reviewed by the New York Post reveals the chaotic scene that unfolded at the Olive Garden.

In the recordings, a dispatcher can be heard clearly muttering that “a male victim got into the fryer first” and there were “a lot of people screaming,” according to the New York Post.

“I don’t have a lot of details … a lot of people screaming, kind of burned victims,” ​​the emergency dispatcher said.
