One day after US President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position, a photo showing her official photo dumped in a trash bin inside the Justice Department went viral. The photo was first reported by MS NOW and shows a framed photo of Bondi placed upside down in an empty trash can. The photo had previously been displayed on the wall alongside pictures of Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance. This development came hours after Trump announced Bondi’s dismissal in a social media post, and the appointment of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as her replacement. Bondi is a longtime Trump ally and has served as the nation’s top law enforcement official since early 2025. In his statement, Trump praised Bondi and said she would move to a role in the private sector. He added that her new position will be announced at a later time. Blanche also defended her record, saying: “As President Trump said today, the Attorney General made our country safe again, and she is a friend who has done an amazing job in the first year of this administration.”Bondi said she would work “tirelessly” to transition her responsibilities and described her tenure as the “honor” of a lifetime.
She added that she “will continue to fight for President Trump and this administration” in her next role.Despite the public praise, The Guardian reported that Trump was frustrated with Bondi’s handling of issues related to the case of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi had previously promised transparency regarding the notorious documents, and said that the list of alleged clients linked to Epstein would be revealed. The Justice Department later stated that no such list existed.Millions of documents related to Epstein were eventually made public after pressure from lawmakers and Trump supporters, and after Congress passed legislation requiring the release of unclassified records. However, much of the content has been redacted. Bondi has faced criticism from Democrats and Republicans. Bondi also faced scrutiny over her leadership during a tense congressional hearing, where discussions with lawmakers escalated. At one point, she called one Democrat a “washed-up loser.”Her departure follows the recent firing of Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security, and adds to a series of high-profile exits from the Trump administration.
