Ottawa police search for Indian man wanted in sexual assault case; The suspect was reportedly wearing a black turban

Canadian police are asking the public for help identifying an Indian man wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault in Ottawa last year.The Ottawa Police Service said the incident occurred on Nov. 29, 2025, at approximately 4:04 p.m. at a business located on Marsh Road near Maxwell Bridge Road.According to the police, a woman was sexually assaulted at the scene. Investigators have now released a description of the suspect and are looking for information that could help identify him.Police described the suspect as “an East Indian man, approximately 30 to 40 years old, of medium build with a salt and pepper beard.”At the time of the accident, the man was wearing a black turban, a gray and black plaid jacket, black jeans, and black and white high boots, authorities said.

Investigators with the Ottawa Police Service are continuing to look into the case and have appealed to members of the public who may have information to come forward.Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is asked to contact the Western Criminal Investigation Division.In June 2024, Uday Jaswal, a former senior officer of Indian descent, was charged with one count of sexual assault related to an alleged 2011 incident in Ottawa. Investigators stated that they had reasonable grounds to believe that the crime occurred while Jaswal was working as an inspector in the police service. The allegation concerns a woman associated with the police organization at that time. After being charged, Jaswal was arrested and released on conditions, including the condition that she not contact the complainant and remain at least 100 meters away from her.

He was also ordered not to possess firearms or weapons and to surrender any items in his possession.
