An Indian-origin restaurant owner in London announced that he is closing his restaurant after 16 years, citing mounting challenges including rising costs, online harassment, frequent disturbances that he attributes to Pakistani groups, and what he described as inadequate support from the Metropolitan Police. Harman Singh Kapoor, owner of Rangrez restaurant in Hammersmith, told Channel X that the restaurant will close its doors next month after “16 unforgettable years”. He said in his post that the accumulated pressures made it impossible to continue working.“After 16 unforgettable years, I have made the difficult decision to close Ranger’s Hammersmith next month. Rising costs, constant online harassment, frequent unrest and attacks by Pakistanis and a lack of proper support from the Metropolitan Police have made it impossible to continue.
And now it is time for me to devote myself completely to the activity without distractions,” he said in a post on X.
Kapoor added that he now plans to focus fully on activism, saying that attempts to disrupt his work will not weaken his resolve. He thanked the customers who have supported the restaurant over the years.“Extremists should keep this in mind: You can disrupt my action, but not my will. I am pursuing you stronger now, without any restrictions.
“Thank you to every real customer who has supported us over the years,” he added. The restaurant had previously been in the spotlight in 2023 after Kapoor claimed he was targeted following videos he posted on TikTok criticizing the Khalistan movement and figures associated with it, including preacher and MP Amritpal Singh.
