Miss Universe Fatima Bosch sparked concern among spectators after she suddenly fell to her knees while riding a parade float during a festival appearance in Ecuador. The video of that moment has gone viral on social media.

The event took place on Sunday, February 15, at the Fruit and Flower Festival in Ambato, Ecuador. (X/@engr2468)According to a report from People, the incident happened on Sunday, February 15, during the Fruit and Flower Festival in Ambato, Ecuador. Bosch was standing atop a flower-decked platform, smiling and waving to the crowd, as she was seen reaching for a railing behind her before stepping down in her mint-colored gown.

Clips circulating online captured shocked reactions from onlookers, who could be heard gasping and shouting as the unexpected moment unfolded. A woman quickly floated up to help Bosch, who was conscious and spoke to the man helping him.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Miguel Angel Martinez, head of communications for the Miss Universe Organization, said Bosch “experienced a brief episode of lightheadedness after participating outdoors for several hours” during the pageant.

“As a precaution, he was immediately assisted by his team and local medical personnel on site,” Martinez continued. “He was conscious, evaluated immediately and recovered quickly. Due to extensive care, his schedule was adjusted for proper rest and hydration. He is feeling well and expressed his sincere gratitude for the warmth and hospitality he received in Ecuador,” he added.

Martinez also said that Bosch is currently on its official international world tour, which includes cultural, humanitarian and community engagements in multiple countries, noting that the company works closely with local teams to ensure the safety and well-being of its titleholders.

Miss Universe 2025 is all about dramaNotably, Bosch represented Mexico at the global pageant and was crowned on November 21 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Her competitive journey in the pageant has already made headlines. In a pre-pageant event streamed live from Thailand, pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly criticized Bosch for refusing to participate in a promotional photo shoot. He claimed that he was not performing a duty to “promote the host country”.

Bosch denied the claim, but Itsaragrisil continued to chastise him, asking several competitors to side with him.

Speaking later on CNN’s The Lead with Jack Tapper, Bosh said he was focused on the moment and initially feared his actions could affect Mexico’s chances. However, he stands by his decision, saying it reflects his values.

During a separate interview on Good Morning America, Bosch denied reports that he considered stepping down from his crown. “I will never depart from this crown,” he said, adding that his mission is to serve others.
